Chancellor's Office

The Chancellor's Office sets the strategic direction and provides the senior leadership for both UW Colleges and UW-Extension.  Chancellor Cathy Sandeen is one of 14 chancellors in the UW System and the only chancellor who oversees more than one institution. The Chancellor's Office represents both institutions at the State Capitol, and appoints senior management for both institutions, including UW Colleges CEO/deans, the UW Colleges and UW-Extension provosts, executive leadership for the joint administrative positions, and managers in senior positions within UW Colleges and UW-Extension. The Chancellor’s Office is responsible for strategic planning and financial management for both UW Colleges and UW-Extension.

Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for the oversight of the academic departments, personnel issues regarding hiring, retention, tenure and promotion of faculty, institutional research, inter-institutional collaborations and articulations, assessment of student learning, professional development of faculty and academic staff, student support services, budget for academic affairs, accreditation, and academic planning and program review.

Budget and Planning

The Office of Budget and Planning collaborates with campuses, offices, and programs throughout the University of Wisconsin Colleges and across UW System institutions to support budget and planning activities. The office is also responsible for the development of the annual operating budget, which is published each year in the Redbook.

Financial Services

Financial Services supports the 13 freshman/sophomore campuses through the effective management of the institution’s resources, assets, and business affairs.  The Business Office provides key financial and administrative services, including General Accounting, Procurement Services, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Travel Services, Tax Compliance Services and Bursar Activities. The goals of the Financial Services Office is to provide effective and efficient administrative services to the campuses and ensure sound business practices concerning the Institution’s fiscal operations, as well as participate with the ongoing review, compliance and oversight of these operations.

Mike is responsible for the planning and administrative management of UW Colleges Online, and of all non-online DE including compressed video (CV) and WisLineWeb (WLW) throughout the UW Colleges thirteen campuses. He interacts with department chairs, campuses and the provost regarding issues of curriculum, staffing, enrollment, and scheduling, and with the faculty/staff teaching in all DE programs. Marketing and Enrollment

The Marketing department provides support and leadership to the UW Colleges in the following areas:  market research, brand development, marketing planning, communications, advertising and promotions, publications, direct mail, graphic design, website consulting and development, public relations, and media relations.  The Statewide Recruiting department provides direct recruitment of high school students to increase enrollment throughout the UW Colleges.

Executive Director


The UW Colleges Registrar office manages the records and admissions components of PeopleSoft Relational Information System (PRISM) along with the official academic transcript processing functions for all 13 campuses and UW Colleges Online. The Registrar office directs the admission process for international applicants and the review and processing of transfer credit.  The Registrar office interacts with department chairs and campuses regarding issues of transfer credit and other Registrar related issues.


Student Accessibility Services

The Student Accessibility Services Office coordinates services for students with disabilities attending the University of Wisconsin Colleges. The Student Accessibility Services Office works with campus staff and faculty to ensure that students with disabilities who have program access needs receive appropriate accommodations.

Student Affairs and Enrollment Management

The Student Affairs and Enrollment Management office provides leadership for the implementation of the enrollment management plan for the institution and the management of the student affairs functions of the central office. These include the offices of Financial Aid, Admissions and Records, Student Accessibility Services, TRIO programs, and the Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program. Support, consultation, and resources for the student affairs-related offices on the campuses are also provided through this office.
