ESFY

ESFY Campus Coordinator Position

The Engaging Students in the First Year (ESFY) Campus Coordinator shall be responsible for the activities described below.

Promoting the ESFY Initiative

  • Promoting active involvement in the initiative by campus administrators, instructors, professional staff, and students.
  • Promoting and assisting in the institutionalization of the initiative across the campus and the institution.
  • Developing, collecting, and disseminating information on teaching, learning, and student engagement and success in the first college year.
  • Teaching one section of the First-Year Seminar each fall semester.

Coordinating the ESFY Initiative

  • Recruiting instructors for First-Year Seminar courses, and other related ESFY curricular and co-curricular activities and programs.
  • Overseeing and monitoring the implementation of First-Year Seminars, and other related ESFY curricular and co-curricular activities and programs.
  • Assisting instructors in selecting, implementing, collecting, and using the results from student and faculty assessments of the First-Year Seminar, and curricular and co-curricular activities and programs related to the initiative.
  • Coordinating campus-wide comprehensive planning for the following year’s initiative based on the assessment results from the year before and institutional priorities.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of First-Year Seminar courses and other related ESFY curricular and co-curricular activities.

Communicating with the Campus and the Office of Academic Affairs

  • Keeping instructors, professional staff, administration, and the UW Colleges’ Office of Academic Affairs informed of campus first-year of college activities, issues, and/or concerns.
  • Convening and chairing meetings of First-Year Seminar instructors.
  • Convening meetings of the campus ESFY task force or the campus committee charged with overseeing ESFY activities and programs.
  • Disseminating information from the UW Colleges’ Office of Academic Affairs relating to the initiative (assessment data, locus of control data, grant and professional development opportunities, CV town meetings, ESFY Spring Conferences, institution-wide initiatives relating to ESFY, etc.).
  • Participating in meetings with other ESFY Campus Coordinators.

Other duties may be assigned.
