About Us

University of Wisconsin Colleges Mission

The mission of the Alcohol and Other Drug Education (AODE) Program is to promote healthy behavior in the college student population through education about the risks related to alcohol and other drug use and abuse.

Program Goals

  • Provide students with accurate and current alcohol and other drug information.
  • Assist students in making low-risk drinking decisions.
  • Reduce alcohol and other drug use and abuse.
  • Advocate healthier lifestyle choices and positive alternatives.
  • Promote improved academic performance.

Services Offered

  • Courses for credit: HES 124 – Alcohol and Other Drugs: Awareness and Alternatives (1 credit elective)
    HES 224 - Drugs, Behavior and Society (3 credit SS)
  • Interactive website for students. faculty, staff and parents.
  • Prevention Activities on a variety of topics (alcohol, marijuana, prescription drugs, gambling)
  • Classroom Presentations
  • Individual consultations with students.
  • Curricular Integration of Alcohol and Other Drug Information
  • Social Marketing
  • Information, Training. and Consultation for Faculty and Staff
  • Online resources including a monthly wellness magazine
  • Compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act and other legal mandates.
