According to a March 2009, UW System Alcohol and Other Drug Use Survey, 16% of UW Colleges students smoke cigarettes on a daily basis. This is lower than the State of Wisconsin smoking rate of around 19%.
Wisconsin has a free Tobacco Quit Line. It is an excellent resource if you're thinking about quitting, preparing to quit, or if you need additional support to stay tobacco free. You can call 1-877-270-STOP (7867) or 1-800-QUIT-NOW. Quit Line hours are Mon - Thur: 7:00am - 11:00pm, Fri: 7:00am - 9:00pm, and Sat-Sun: 8:00am - 7:00pm. The Quit Line is currently offering a free two-week supply of nicotine replacement products.
