Statement 

Dr. Learst recieved his BS and MA from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, and his PhD in Creative Writing from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He has taught creative writing, literature, and composition since 1995. He was a tenured professor at Colorado Mesa University, taught at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN; Gustavus Aldolphus College in Saint Peter, MN; Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI, and University of Wisconsin Colleges in Marinette, WI. He has published numerous stories, poems, and essays in literary journals. His collection of short stories won the Leapfrog Fiction Contest in 2011. He is a member of the Associated Writers Program and the AAUP.
