Statement

Dr. Kayoung Kim was born, raised, and educated in South Korea where she obtained her BA from Yonsei University. She came to US in 2009 where she received her MS in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University, and PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Texas A&M University. Her area of specialization is in experimental psycholinguistics, and her research examines the relationship between literacy experiences and human cognition. She joined the UW-Fond du Lac faculty in 2015.

Dr. Kim has long taught both at the high school and the college level, and holds a teaching certification in Spanish linguistics, directorship of psychodrama, and CIRTL certification in university instruction. During her years in higher education, she has taught a number of courses in psychology and has received numerous awards for her excellence in teaching and mentorship. One student noted, Kayoung has enough energy and excitement to power a small town, and her vehemence truly motivates all her students. No matter the topic, her class was always exciting, interactive, vigorous, and more importantly, enjoyable. I would recommend everyone and anyone to take her course; in fact, I believe more students should take her course.

Kayoung lives in Fond du Lac with her husband, and a miniature schnauzer rescue who is a dedicated walker of his humans. In her free time, she enjoys cross-stitching and inventing baked goods.
