Laurie Krasin became the Regional Director of Communications for the Northeast Region of the University of Wisconsin Colleges in 2016. This recently created role has given her the opportunity to support communications at three campuses in the region: UW-Fond du Lac, UW-Fox Valley and UW-Manitowoc.
With almost 20 years of higher education experience in the areas of public/media relations, communications, marketing, social media and special event planning, her background also includes a deep understanding of alumni and donor relations.
She joined the UW-Fond du Lac team in 2000, just as the campus was celebrating completion of a $13 million renovation. She previously worked at Marian University in the advancement office where she coordinated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Stayer Center and planned numerous events through the President's office including the annual dinner for donors and the community-wide Heritage Festival of the Arts.
Laurie enjoys sharing student and alumni success stories and is a journalist at heart. She earned a degree in journalism from UW-Oshkosh where she held several position on the editorial staff of the student newspaper, the Advance-Titan.
She believes strongly in the power of education to change a person's life. Laurie and her family have established a memorial scholarship at UW-Fond du Lac to honor her mom, Darlene Simonson, a life-long elementary school teacher.
