Part of the mission of The University of Wisconsin Colleges (UWC) is to disseminate knowledge and to expand information. To that end, it is supportive of the efforts of both faculty and students to do original research. However, any research project involving living human subjects must receive approval from the UWC Institutional Review Board (IRB) before any data are collected. The IRB members and IRB Coordinator are available to guide and support researchers throughout this process.
The UW Colleges requires that each Principal Investigator (or, for student research, the Faculty/Staff sponsor) complete an online training module, effective Jan 1, 2013. Please see the Training & Education page for details.
IRB members can review the protocols through the secure SharePoint site. Please Note: Only current IRB members can access the SharePoint site. Documents intended for general access can be found on other pages of the website.
Faculty, staff and students at Waukesha and Washington County should contact the UW-Milwaukee IRB for submissions and questions related to human subjects research. Information about the UW-Milwaukee IRB can be found here: https://uwm.edu/irb/
