UW Colleges Money Matters

Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)

Federal Academic Competitiveness Grants (ACG) are awarded to PELL grant eligible full-time students who have completed a "rigorous" set of high school courses as defined by the appropriate federal or state agency. This grant program is applicable during the first two years of study. The maximum award is up to $750 for the first year and up to $1300 for the second year. Additional eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship and high school graduation after January 1, 2006 for first year students or after January 1, 2005 for second year students.

Students need to self-identify for ACG consideration by accessing their FAFSA information online. If not completed previously, select "Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA" and enter the identification information requested. Students potentially eligible for an ACG will be presented the ACG questions on the Web for completion. Students who do not have Web access can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) at 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) and provide Social Security number, name, and date of birth. Again, the system will pre-determine your potential eligibility for a ACG. If potentially eligible for an ACG you can answer the ACG questions by phone.
