UW Colleges Money Matters

Federal Perkins Loans

Federal Perkins Loans are loans awarded by the UW Colleges with funds provided by the federal government. Funding is limited in this low-interest (5%) loan program.

In order to apply for the Perkins Loan, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate year. You will need to submit your FAFSA as early as possible because the Perkins Loan fund is limited. The UW Colleges has a priority FAFSA-filing deadline of March 15. In general, the UW Colleges awards Perkins loans that average $2,000 per school year.
