Duties
This position is responsible for scheduling and directing other custodial staff in all aspects of custodial activity, assuring a clean, sanitary and safe educational environment. Work involves planning, assigning, and directing a variety of cleaning, operational activities and coordinating setups for meetings and events. This position conducts regular building inspections, evaluating best practices and cleaning products, observing quality and quantity of cleaning services performed by staff and coordinates activities with the county juvenile restitution programs. This position implements corrective guidance and/or discipline to custodial staff when necessary to maintain operational standards and/or employee safety. The position coordinates the campus fleet vehicle reservation system, inspects and prepares vehicles for travel. The position prepares and oversees a supply and expense budget, makes purchases, and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment supporting custodial activities. The Custodial Services Supervisor will participate in employment interviews, effectively making hiring recommendations, and will provide employee orientation and training. The position also participates in the daily custodial work of the department.
Qualifications
Must have valid driver's license or be able to obtain one by the time of appointment; Must have ability to work independently as well as with others; Must have knowledge of proper methods, cleaning chemicals, and equipment for janitorial work; Must have foresight and use good judgment in planning and organizing custodial-related activities; Must have basic knowledge of hand tools used in minor building repairs and adjustments; Must have ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds and periodically heavier objects; Must have ability to follow good safety standards and use protective equipment as necessary; Must have ability to operate equipment with manual transmission; Must be able to read and follow work and written instructions; Must have knowledge of basic math and ability to calculate ratios; Must have ability to work on ladders, lifts and scaffolding; Must have physical stamina to perform required work including bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and working on feet for extended periods of time; Must have computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn and navigate new software as needed; Must possess sound communication and interpersonal skills to maintain relations with staff at all levels; Must have ability to plan and manage time and motion efficiently; Must have ability to supervise.
