The Department of Political Science of the University of Wisconsin Colleges invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in Political Science at UW-Washington County.
- The Campus:
- The UW Colleges is the freshman-sophomore transfer institution within the UW System. UW Colleges functions as a unit that comprises thirteen two-year campuses, each of which offers an excellent liberal arts and pre-professional education for students beginning work toward a bachelorâs degree. The Washington County campus is located in the city of West Bend in the heart of the northern Kettle Moraine, and less than an hourâs drive north of Milwaukee (http://www.westbendconnections.org/). The campus is situated on 87 scenic acres and serves over 1000 students. - Responsibilities:
- Primary teaching responsibilities lie in a broad range of lower division courses. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester with an emphasis upon interactive learning in small classes.
- Qualifications:
- A PhD in Political Science is required. Preferred area of expertise is in the field of International and/or Comparative Politics, but applicant must have the ability to teach Introduction to American Government. Successful candidate must demonstrate strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning, and show engagement in active scholarship. The position carries an expectation to participate in shared governance and community service. Applicants who are ABD in Political Science will be considered if the applicant has reasonable expectations of completing all requirements for the PhD within six months of the start of the contract period, August 25, 2008.

- August 25, 2008
- Salary:
- $42,500 (nine-month academic year appointment) with an excellent benefits package. Please see www.uwsa.edu/hr/benefits. Summer session may offer additional opportunities for compensation.
