Academic Life

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) is a place where UW-Colleges students can submit essays via the Internet for feedback from a student writing tutor. The OWL is part of the Study-Center Tutoring Program at UW-Waukesha, which is certified by the College Reading & Learning Association.

Computer Resources
Most campuses have a computer lab that is open all day during the week and limited hours on weekends. One-on-one technical support is usually available, and many campuses also offer classes on computer use as well as on programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other programs.

Deadlines
At the UW Colleges, we have a rolling admissions policy, which means students can sign up at any time before the first day of the semester, and will be accepted when their file is complete. We would like to encourage you to apply as early as possible. Applying early is helpful especially if you are interested in applying for scholarships or other forms of financial aid.
Scholarship Deadlines:
- The deadline to apply for scholarships is not the same for each campus.
- At many campuses, the deadline for new students to submit scholarship applications is in March or April.
- Please contact the Student Services Office at the campus you plan to attend for more information.
Financial Aid Deadlines:
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be completed each year as soon after January 1 as possible.
- The FAFSA is available electronically through the Internet.
- Paper copies are available from all UW Colleges Student Services Offices or from high school guidance offices.
Housing Deadlines:
- UW-Marathon County and UW-Richland have residence halls.
- More information is available from the Student Services Office at these campuses and at Housing.
