Beyond my education, my preparation for an academic career has evolved from experience in numerous fields, primarily government, the law and finance. I have been: a mayor, a county planner, a League of Wisconsin Municipalities lobbyist, a legal advisor to two Wisconsin governors, an advisor to the Wisconsin Publiic Service Commission and a Washington lobbyist for a leading nationwide financial firm. During the Cold War I was engaged for several European appearances by the U.S. State Department. I have appeared before the Wisconsin Supreme Court and testified before a United States Senate Committee. Other assignments included membership on criminal justice and regional planning commissions by gubernatorial appointment. I have extensive management experience at senior levels in mortgage banking and commercial banking with national firms. Recently on the Board of a 3-county free clinic organization, and am a founding member of a program providing mentoring services to patients of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Transplant Department. In 2014 I received the Ripon (WI) School District Distinguished Alumni Award. During 2015 I concluded my eighth year on the Board of Directors of the The University of Wisconsin Barron County Foundation. Past 4-year Board President Barron County Habitat for Humanity. I hold memberships in: International Political Science Association, The American Political Science Association and the Midwest Political Science Association. I enjoy providing both in class face-to-face instruction, as well as my online instructing through affiliation with UW Colleges Online.
