Drs. Catherine Leone and Ronald (Ron) Lippi are retiring

May 18, 2015

Drs. Catherine Leone and Ronald (Ron) Lippi delivered their last classes on 13th May 2015.

Dr. Catherine Leone started teaching in the UW Colleges as an Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Sociology on the UW-Manitowoc campus in 1989. The same year, Dr. Ron Lippi was hired as an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at UW-Marathon County. Both served as department chairs over the years and Dr. Lippi also served as the Associate Campus Dean at UWMC. After 26 years as faculty members and leaders of our department, both will soon retire - Dr. Leone next week and Dr. Lippi at the end of summer.

In the words of the current department Chair, Dr. Ann Herda-Rapp, "For 26 years, we have come to count on them for keen insight and measured but spirited responses to issues affecting the department. We, and their campuses, have been enriched by their leadership and service. And thousands of students have been the lucky recipients of their skillful instruction. We will carry on in their traditions, doing what we can to keep our department strong and to maintain the high quality of our instruction."

The department gave these fun loving anthropoplogists a farewell during its Spring meeting in Madison in March. Below are some pictures from this gathering.
